Vipre Antivirus is apparently pretty good, because it is rated pretty highly by both download.com and majorgeeks.com.
Vipre is made by Sunbelt Software, who has a good reputation and has been around computer security for quite a while.
BUT if I were to ever use a paid antivirus (*), it would be ESET NOD32 (or the full security suite, ESET Smart Security.)
(*) I use and recommend the free version of Avast.

microsoft security essentials is the best.
Nod32 is simply the best anti-virus on the market right now. It’s detection abilities are far superior to other AV’s. Plus you will hardly know it’s even there.
I can not comment too much on Vipre too much, but I have seen good reviews for it and it supposedly is decent, but those review sites seem to get some of the other trusted testing sites backwards, so i am not sure how much I would trust the ones that put vipre high . IF Vipre is really good, thats unfortunate, as it MAY be ok.
I always recommend the freewares that do great, Avast and Avira; however, the one non-free scanner for viruses I still recommend would be NOD32 … one of the best …year after year
